« Organic Balloons and Dialogue »
Recently, I “auditioned” for a lettering gig with an artist that has a very organic, painterly style. I lettered the script in Adobe Illustrator and then saved it out to a Photoshop (PSD) file. I opened the resulting Photoshop file and used various brushes and techniques to get that worn, organic quality to the balloons and dialogue.
I was happy with the results and proud of my submission. I didn’t get the gig, which is fine, but I wanted to post a sample of what I submitted.

I’ve been in contact with the creator of this comic book and I will be doing the lettering. I’m truly ecstatic about this and can’t wait to get started.

Dude, that's bullshit! That looks awesome. That's the kind of blended font I wish 30 Days of Night had had.
Thanks Adam. Maybe you could let Steve Niles know about my style since you interviewed him at Baltimore Comic-Con. Oh, wait. I was interviewing him too.
Seriously, thanks for the compliment.
