Billy Banes Issue 1 Cover
Since Billy Banes is a sidekick I thought his logo should not be too over-the-top. A classic, clean look really helps to reflect the character.

Billy Banes Issue 1 Page 2
The last panel on this page depicts Billy Banes superhero partner, Omni-Knight, tied up and mumbling for being bested by their enemy. I like to design balloons and text to help reflect how a character is speaking. Figuring out how to illustrate a mode or the way someone sounds is a challenge.

Billy Banes Issue 1 Page 9
The mode is quite grim and depressing on this page. Omni-Knight and Billy are arging over Omni-Knight continuing to be a superhero. The last panel is a depressing moment when a superhero decides to hang-up his cape. Over-sized balloons with lots of empty space help to convey the emptyness Omni-Knight must be feeling.

Billy Banes Issue 1 Page 15
Billy joins forces with the Golden Archer as the Yellow Cupid. They find themselves in battle with a giant fire monster. I like to blend my lettering with the art as much as possible without getting in the way. A couple of effects to the monsters howl helps to keep the heat intensity turned up.

Billy Banes Issue 1 Page 17
This is my favorite page in the book. I really like how the “KRA-BOOM” in the last panel blends with the explosion and amplifies the effect.
